I look at the people I've met online in fandom communities and count three lawyers, one paramedic who's worked in security and knows a good deal about firearms and ballistics, a support staffer for the San Jose PD, a former martial arts/women's self-defense instructor who also owns horses and currently works in a group home for developmentally disabled adults, an IT professional, an actress, a nursing home aide, a journalist, an urban planner, two teachers, a graphic artist with a degree in marine biology... and it hits me: if I mess up on the legal system, medications, etc... I'll be very lucky if only my friends catch it!
