It never occurred to me, but you're absolutely right. I've also never heard anyone say they weren't inspired to write an essay. That's basically just saying that you didn't feel like it, and no teacher is going to care for that excuse.

I was burned out after university and didn't write for a very long time. Thankfully, I found an amazing teacher who said pretty much what you did - that you just sit down and write, anything. It doesn't matter what, just keep your hand moving.

A few years ago, someone told me about Cold Turkey, which is a programme that blocks websites so you can focus on your work. It made such a huge difference to me. I'm self-disciplined in some ways, but the internet is my weakness. Having something help me focus was amazing.

Practice is definitely much more important than talent. Thank you for writing this post, it was a great reminder and very comforting.
