So, unsurprisingly, stuff has happened in the last two years.
I guess those are the high points. I'll try to post more often, but no promises.
- Went from Obesity Level III:
to Overweight:
in 2 years (P.S. That's Rose "Tinkerbell" McIvor with me). Basically, the veins in my legs collapsed under too much... me and I developed cellulitis and lymphedema. Both, thank G-d, under control now. But a referral to a vascular surgeon gave me a diagnosis of "chronic venous insufficiency" and medical orders to get compression stockings and lose weight. I joined My Fitness Pal and have dropped 107 lbs in 2 years. Which has led to... - I now walk 2 hours daily and work out with dumbbells. Lifting up to 50lbs (i.e. a pair of 25s) at the moment.
- Ran a 5K in 28:17. Placed 51st overall out of 500. 21st of 300 women. First of 32 women aged 45–49. Yes, I'm hyped!
- Not as onerous as it sounds, but... I've got bladder cancer. My uro-oncologist calls is a nuisance. Basically, this kind 92–93% of the time doesn't spread. It's treated with TURBT surgery and immunotherapy. 98% survival rate, but as my uro-oncologist put it, they don't talk "survival" rates, but "recurrence", because it's practically a given that it's not going to finish me off. The surgery is just to get it out so I don't run the risk of moving into that other 6-7%. Last cystoscopy was clean. I have one on Dec 8th. If that one's good too, I think they move to letting me go 6 months between checkups instead of 3.
- We've got a cat! Soot, the feral/stray who kept wanting to move in won over hubby and... he's an adorable little cuddle muffin now. FIV positive, but in pretty good health despite that. Playful, affectionate, friendly... We never planned on this, but we're glad he's in our life.
I guess those are the high points. I'll try to post more often, but no promises.
